Palace declares Araw ng Dabaw a holiday

MALACANANG has declared March 17, Monday, as special non-working day in Davao City in time for the Araw ng Dabaw celebration.

Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. inked Proclamation No. 735, declaring Monday as holiday to allow the people of Davao City to participate in the event this year.

The highlight activities for the Araw ng Dabaw 2014 are: Mutya ng Dabaw Grand Coronation Night on March 14, Friday, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Davao City Recreation Center (former Almendras Gym); Sayawan sa Dan on Saturday, March 15, from 1 p.m to 5 p.m. along San Pedro Street, then Datu Bago Awards/Mayor’s Appreciation Night in Royal Mandaya Hotel Ballroom from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; and Parada Dabawenyo on Sunday, March 16, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon along San Pedro Street.

"It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Davao be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies," the order dated March 13 reads.
