THE Regional Council of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines-Southern Mindanao Region (RDC-NDFP-SMR) on Monday ordered indemnification of the four rescue workers who were wounded during the Bansalan blast on March 2.
In a statement emailed to Sun.Star Davao, Rubi del Mundo, spokesperson for the NDFP, said the third Party Facilitators, comprised of church people, medical practitioners and other advocates, were requested on Monday to expedite the public dispensation of indemnification of Genaro Doronio Dumayas, Bonita dela Cruz, Arnel Comandante Veloroso, and Alberto Simbajon Cabual.
The four were wounded during the New People's Army's " tactical offensive" in Barangay Managa, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
"The order acts upon the apology and recommendations submitted by the Southern Mindanao Regional Command of the New People's Army," the statement read.
It added: "This is a unilateral exercise of revolutionary political authority by a government of the working class and peasantry that has its own legal and judicial system and rules in accordance with its political principles and circumstances."
Del Mundo said the order of indemnification is in compliance with the Geneva Conventions for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces, the Comprehensive Agreement on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL), the NDFP Declaration of Undertaking to Apply the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and Protocol I of 1977, the Constitutional Guide for Establishing the People's Democratic Government, and the Basic Rules of the New People's Army.
He said they recognized the noble occupation of the four medical and emergency response members in preserving life and strenuous circumstances.
"Thus, we condemn any attack against this profession and any act that violates the rights of its members. We denounce the AFP for endangering medical responders by concealing their identities in the battlefield and by putting their lives in danger," he said.
