IT WAS indeed a Good Friday for operatives of the Task Force Davao Cocaine after a 27-year-old man from Panabo City turned over two of the remaining four missing cocaine bricks on Friday.

Bunawan police identified the person as Joseph Zohr Greal Jaime Dela Fuerte, who hails from Barangay San Francisco, Panabo City.

Dela Fuerte was accompanied by his uncle Celiz Dela Fuerte and Bureau of Customs Enforcement and Security Service (BOC-ESS) special agent Leonard George Carillo.

The two bricks of cocaine were first turned over to Bunawan police station commander Chief Inspector Simplicio Sagarino Jr. before they were presented to Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao Jr.

Examination conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea)-Davao showed the two bricks weighed around 2,272.1 grams with an estimated value of P13,632,600.

Task Force Davao Cocaine have yet to recover the last two bricks out of the 64 bricks of cocaine found in a Maersk container van stashed at the Sumifu Wharf in Sasa last March 22.

Authorities initially recovered 24 bricks when a “secret deck” in the container van broke down exposing the stashed cocaine.

A total of 27 more were recovered the following day, while two were returned to the authorities on March 25.

On April 1, a truck driver returned three bricks while two suspected drug pushers were arrested in a buy-bust operation on April 9 for trying to sell a total of 779.7 grams of cocaine.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte earlier placed a shoot-to-kill order against suspects who refuse to return the cocaine bricks.

Duterte added that the cocaine bricks will not be turned over to the national office of Pdea as he prefers to conduct a burning of evidence ceremony in the city. (Sun.Star Davao)
