Police Officer 3 (PO3) Barney Batuto of Toril police then conducted an investigation on the stock room and found out that the room was made of light material while assorted chemicals used for banana spraying were also stashed inside.

Further investigation revealed that an employee identified as Glenn Oganla Lawangon, 31, who hails from the same barangay has witnessed an odd chemical reaction upon trying to get chlorine from the building.

Lawangon told police that the chemicals were producing sparks when it made contact on solid objects. Two other employees identified as Ronnie Paragsa and Marrisa Daniosa affirmed the testimony of Lawangon claiming that they have seen the sparks produced by the chemicals as well.

Senior Fire Officer 2 (SFO2) Maxiano Campaña Jr., meanwhile, said the initial cause of fire was due to the improper handling of chemicals.
