POLICE arrested on Wednesday a man who handled an architectural project worth P2 million without having the necessary license from the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC).
Talomo police identified the arrested suspect as Emerson Alag Somoza, 32, and a resident of Macopa St., Norton Subdivision in Matina Aplaya.
Somoza was arrested in an entrapment operation at Trinidad Greenhills in Barangay Maa, Davao City based on the complaint of Jovelyn Tibon Rañola, a 35-year-old businesswoman who hails from Samantha Homes in Catalunan Pequeño.
Investigation conducted by PO3 Arnel Iriarte revealed that the complainant appeared before the police station around 3 p.m. to complain about the deal she had with the suspect.
Rañola told police that she has been dealing with Somoza in the construction of a townhouse at Trinidad Greenhills after the suspect introduced himself as an architect. But the complainant found out that the suspect was never a licensed architect based on her verification before the PRC.
Police then told the complainant to arrange a transaction with the suspect at the construction site of the complainant's townhouse.
The operation, spearheaded by Police Senior Inspector Adonis Zozobrado, resulted in the arrest of Somoza.
Cops collared the suspect after he received the P300,000 boodle money that the complainant handed out for the purchase of construction materials.
Also recovered from Somoza's possession were two IDs, one issued by the EAS Design Build and Construction and the other by Premiere Builders with both IDs signifying that he is an architect.
Somoza is currently detained at the Talomo police station while estafa charges may be filed against him in court.
