A NON-GOVERNMENT organization is set to conduct its multi-sectoral peace rally at Rizal Park, Davao City today, May 4.

Sami Buat, regional chair of the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society and coordinator designate for the Mindanao Alliance for Peace in Davao Region, said the activity will start from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Buat said this is part of a series of rallies to be held in other parts of the country, including Isabela, Pagadian, Cotabato, Marawi, Tacurong, General Santos and Davao, in municipalities of Jolo, Sulu, Baloi, Lanao del Norte, Pikit, North Cotabato and Manila.

"This simultaneous mass action is designed to express massive people support to a recently submitted to the Office of the President, Draft Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) by the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC)," Buat said.

The BTC is a body created by President Benigno Aquino III through an executive order and supported by resolutions of both the Congress and the Senate of the Philippines.

The BTC is tasked among others to craft a Basic Law for a ministerial form of government in the Bangsamoro new political entity.

Buat said the rally will be attended by different sectors coming from different areas in Davao Region including Lumads and settlers.

The Draft Bangsamoro Basic Law will be certified by the president as an urgent bill for priority deliberation in the congress.

"This rally calls on the Government of the Philippines, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the Congress of the Philippines for the immediate passage of the Law of the Bangsamoro Basic Law without unnecessary delay," Buat said.

Buat urged peace advocates and all peace loving people to participate and to support the rally.
