NORTH Cotabato Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza offered P200,000 cash reward to anyone who can provide information on the whereabouts of the gunmen who shot and wounded a Provincial Government employee on May 26.
The victim identified as Bernabe Abanilla, alias Bantito, was shot by unidentified gunmen around 3:45 p.m. Monday in Kidapawan City, while on his way home.
Police said that despite injury in his face, the victim managed to bring himself to the Kidapawan hospital for treatment.
Mendoza said Abanilla, a former barangay captain of Dorulman in Arakan, is a member of her staff. She added that the P200,000-reward is from her own pocket.
"I don't want to speculate on politics as I am waiting for anyone to claim responsibility on such barbaric act," Mendoza said, adding that she could only surmise how desperate and helpless other people can get to succumb to evil act.
"When we have nothing to turn to or families who care, life has become insignificant. But for the victims of greed and lawlessness we demand swift justice before our courts of law," she added.
Members of the Kidapawan City Police Office are conducting investigation on the shooting incident.
