A SUSPECTED leader of a crime syndicate operating in Maguindanao is facing charges before the City Prosecutor’s Office after he was arrested in a buy-bust operation at a karaoke bar at Times Beach in Matina Aplaya, Davao City, on Thursday.
Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is Nasser Pasandalan Cudales, suspected leader of the Matalam Group.
The accused was arrested in a buy-bust operation Thursday launched by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Davao.
Cudales was arrested after handing out one sachet containing suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange of the P1,500 buy-bust money.
Also recovered from the possession of the suspect were four other sachets of suspected shabu, one .38 caliber revolver with four live ammunitions and a weighing scale.
CIDG-Davao also reported that the Matalam Group is involved in the transport of illegal drugs from Cotabato City to Davao City.
The suspect is now detained at the CIDG-Davao detention facility at the Davao City Police office (DCPO) headquarters while the recovered drugs were submitted to the Philippine national Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory in Davao Region.
Police are also set to file charges against Cudales for violation of the Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
