THE Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao Region is now digging deeper into the connection of three suspects to the police officer in the murder case of Cebu-based businessman Richard Lim King and that they are still looking for the mastermind.
Davao PRO spokesperson Chief Inspector Jed Clamor said that while the three suspects are now detained, the regional Special Investigation Task Group (RSITG) is still closely monitoring "persons of interest" who may be the real brains in the murder case.
Paul Dave Molina Labang, 24, the triggerman, a resident of Daliao Toril, and Rodel dela Cerna, tricycle driver, were arrested Sunday around 10 a.m. at Laud Firing Range in Maa, Davao City, after Rommel dela Cerna, brother of Rodel, confessed to the authorities the crime they committed on June 12.
"Hindi pa tapos ang imbestigasyon. Kahit na-identify na at nakakulong ang tatlong suspects, hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin natin alam kung sino ang nasa likod ng lahat ng ito. We're still looking for the mastermind. In fact, marami pa kaming kailangan gawin para ma-solve ang kasong ito," Clamor said.
Clamor said they are also trying to establish the relationship of the three to former Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) director Supt. Leonardo A Felonia. He added that if in case Felonia will be found guilty, “How is he related to the mastermind?”
Davao PRO regional director Wendy Rosario earlier directed members of the RSITG to solve the crime as soon as possible. This after President Benigno Aquino III ordered the authorities concerned to solve the murder of King in one month.
Rosario earlier sent Sta. Ana police station commander Superintendent Royina Garma to Metro Manila to gather information from people related to King. Operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Davao were also sent to Cebu and Iloilo to do the same.
The task group has been looking into business competition as possible motive of the crime aside from personal grudge and crime of passion.
King was shot dead last June 12 inside Vital-C Health Products, Inc. building in Barrio Obrero, Davao City.
King was the chair and chief executive officer of the J. King & Sons Co. Inc., developer of Crown Regency, Club Ultima and the City Suites Ramos Tower. He was also the founder and director of Boracay Multiple Properties Inc.
