THE man charged for robbing and trying to kill his Korean employer pleaded not guilty during his arraignment before the sala of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 17 in Davao City on Thursday.
Respondent Ryan Fabila Santos, 31, and a resident of Purok 5, Bugac, Barangay Ilang in Davao City denied the robbery with frustrated homicide charges filed against him by complainant Sungmo Jung, 40.
Santos was assisted by lawyer Rudy Alonzo of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) for his arraignment alone.
RTC Branch 17 Judge Evalyn Morales, meanwhile, scheduled the preliminary conference on July 31 while the pre-trial will be held on August 13.
It was reported earlier that Santos was charged when he tried to barge in the house of Jung at Apollo St., Doña Vicenta Subd on May 28.
Report of San Pedro police revealed that the incident took place at around 8:45 a.m. The suspect was observed to have been under the influence of liquor when he caused a commotion at the victim's residence.
He kept knocking on the door of the victim and asked for money yet the latter refused.
Santos then stabbed Jung in different parts of his body and barged in to get the victim’s P600 from his wallet.
Police recovered an 11-inch kitchen knife and bloodied gloves while Jung was taken to the Davao Doctor’s Hospital.
Santos, however, decided to surrender to the Bunawan police station who endorsed him to the San Pedro police.
The suspect is currently detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Davao in Ma-a.
