TAGUM CITY -- Mayor Allan L. Rellon said the 2016 national election is still far from his mind.
It is rumored that he will be running for vice governor while former representative Antonio R. Floirendo Jr. will be seeking the gubernatorial seat.
Rellon, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said he is pre-occupied with the remaining two years as mayor, for him to think of 2016. He added that the Tagumenos will be the ones who will seal his fate after his term.
"Malayo pa naman yun (election). Hindi ko pa nga pinag-iisipan ang filing of candidacy, ang pinag-iisipan ko ay ang remaining years ko as mayor here, kung paano ko matatapos yung mga projects ko before the national election," Rellon said.
As of now, Rellon said he enjoys his work despite the heavy load on his shoulders. He also said what matters to him is how he could serve and contribute to the needs of the city and its people, and not the upcoming election.
"I love my work despite that it is stressful. Darating din tayo diyan sa election, and I will let the people decide whether tatakbo ako or hindi. If they don’t want me to run and continue what I had started, no problem. I will respect whatever is the decision of the public," Rellon said.
It is being whispered about that last-termer Governor Rodolfo del Rosario will be running for mayor of Tagum. (ICT)
