AMIDST recent controversies, the first ever Kadayawan Invasion is now set for a vibrant kick off on August 16 at Davao Crocodile Park's concert grounds.
The party, organized by Spectrum Philippines in partnership with businessman Sonny Dizon, promises to turn the spotlight on Davao as it will feature the country's best DJs.
Spectrum Philippines, a SEC-registered, Cebu-based organization that annually holds concerts nationwide and now on its sixth year, expects 5,000 people for this year's event.
Kaz Onozawa of Spectrum Philippines, during Monday's Kapehan sa Dabaw at The Annex of SM City Davao, said the event has been approved by the City Council and will push through with certain measures to be undertaken in compliance with the city's ordinances.
"We would like to make it clear that Kadayawan Invasion is not a rave party. It is a music festival. There are other activities that people can do inside aside from the usual dancing", Onozawa explained.
Minors will be allowed into the premises; however, they will have to wear a wristband indicating that they are minors so they will be offered a special menu at the bar in observance of the city's ordinance against serving liquor to them.
"Consumption of liquor, that is, the selling of alcoholic beverages in the event will stop at 1 a.m. in accordance with the liquor ban in the city", Onozawa stated.
With regard to the dress code on the event, Onozawa added that the public is free to wear what they feel would best express their unique individuality for as long as they don't go without clothes.
Tickets to Kadayawan Invasion are pegged at P300 for general admission and P 2,000 for VIP passes. Proceeds will benefit the House of Hope. (Jeffer Joy Orteza-AdDU Intern)
