Kapitan Tomas, IPI win floral float contest

TWO entries bested 25 others in this year's Pamulak or the Floral Float Parade, which culminated the Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2014 celebration on Sunday, August 17.

Barangay Kapitan Tomas Monteverde and International Pharmaceutical Inc. (IPI) won the alternative and traditional categories, bringing home P100,000 and P500,000, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Davao Horse Club placed first runner-up in alternative category, followed by Club VeeDub Davao as second runner-up (P50,000), Philippine Daily Inquirer placed third runner-up, and 4th Runner-up was Hydie Jereos.

For traditional category, Concentrix ranked first runner-up, then Barangay Sta. Cruz, Talikud Island as second runner-up, followed by University of the Philippines Los Baños Alumni Association (third runner-up), and Ines Flower Shop placed fourth runner-up.

More than 20,000 Dabawenyos and visitors trooped to the city streets to witness the parade of colorful floats artistically adorned with fresh flowers.

Around 68 participants were listed in this year's Pamulak, a parade of floats of competing and non-competing contingents and bands from different schools and companies in the city.
