DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) director Sr. Supt. Vicente Danao Jr. said he will talk to the police officer who was allegedly shouting at both hobbyists and professional photographers before the Indak-Indak Sa Dan began Saturday morning.
The officer was identified as Police Superintendent Royina Garma who was the police on duty at that area.
Danao, who guested in Monday's edition of Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao, said that he just read about the incident in the newspaper and has yet to find out about the details of the incident.
He said he will talk to Garma to know more about the incident.
"Siguro yung purpose ng officer is to really pahalagahan yung safety.... Kasi baka maraming may camera na nakahalo sa media tapos hindi nainspect ang gamit," Danao said.
"Yun kasi yung pagkontrol ng media hindi sa pulis yan ang sa amin lang is kung nautusan kami na icheck ito [icheck namin pero kung] medyo ayaw, kasa magrereact [ang officer]," he said.
The incident happened around 7 a.m. on Saturday just before the Indak-indak sa Dan started, wherein in Garma was heard shouting at photographers to leave the stage area.
In an earlier interview, Garma said, "Ang naging problema kasi marami talagang tao, kahit ang space for the media, photojournalist or photo hobbyists na occupy na rin ng mga spectators, at sa ingay ng paligid dahil Kadayawan, I have to make my voice louder in controlling the crowd."
"The photographers were allowed to take pictures, hindi ko sila pinagbawalan, pinagsabihan ko lang sila na sa tabi lang kumuha ng pictures, yun lang naman, to maintain the orderliness during the Indak-Indak and Pamulak. As to incidents, we've recorded four petty crimes in our area of responsibility," she added. (RJFL)
