COMEDIAN Ramon Bautista was fortunate enough that the Duterte siblings only demanded a public apology from him after his misbehavior during the Kadayawan Invasion.

If he was at the Kadayawan Invasion, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte said he might slap the comedian for his pejorative.

"Kasi pag ako nandoon din baka nasampal ko pa. Lalo na babae nainsulto. Ingatan mo talaga yan kahit saan ka pa magpunta," Duterte said in an interview during the Pahalipay ni Mayor Rody ug Vice Mayor Pulong on Sunday evening.

"Magaan yung kamay ko pag ganun. I have to protect everybody here, not only the physical being, I protect their honor. Most especially mga lumad, kasi sila yung una dito," he said.

He also said, "Yung sensitivity ng tao, when you talk lalo na mga ganyan, sa ibang lugar. It's always a responsibility. Careful. Dito marami tayo lumad, muslim. Respeto at pakikisama dapat. Do not degrade anybody. You must make sure yung dignity ng tao. Mag react kasi yan."

The "hipon scandal" broke in social media, specifically in Facebook, after former mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio posted and ranted about how Bautista behaved during the Kadayawan Invasion. [READ: Persona non grata for comedian over ‘hipon scandal’]

"Hipon" is a Filipino pejorative that means a person with a sexy body but with an ugly face.

Former Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte reacted to what Bautista did.

"I cannot blame them. I do not blame the vice mayor for reacting. The most sensitive dito yung mga Muslim, so be careful. Mixed ang kultura dito, Muslim, lumad. We do not make any derogatory remark," he said.

On the persona non grata request made by Duterte-Caprio, Duterte also said he will leave decision to the City Council.

"I cannot prevent the City Council. Di ko kontorlado yan," he said.

"The city council is the representative of the people. Pag nagsabi yan sila persona non grata ka, it's the voice o the people," he added.

Bautista already apologized to the Dabawenyos for his statement.
