Drug surrenderees now reach 9,322

A TOTAL of 9,322 persons have so far surrendered to the Davao City Police Office in relation to the campaign against illegal drugs.

The number is from July 1 to October 5, where a total of 218 drug bust were also reported, 309 arrests made, and 38 deaths in legitimate police operations.

This is the result of the intensified Oplan Double Barrel, DCPO spokesperson Senior Inspector Catherine dela Rey said.

The latest operation yielded three suspects – two arrests by the Sta. Ana Police Preinct and one by the Buhangin Police Precinct.

At around 8 p.m. last October 10, Sta. Ana Police arrested Akira Sayari, 18, and his minor companion in a drug bust near their place at Barangay 23-C Poblacion, Davao City.

Seized from their possession were 19 packets of crystalline substance believed to be “methamphetamine hydrochloride” or shabu, estimated at P25,000.

Another drug bust on October 10, at Deca Homes in barangay Indangan, Buhangin District by the Buhangin Police at around 8 a.m. led to the arrest of Benedicto Labostro Jr., 34, married, a security guard, and resident of Sto. Niño, Barangay Mandug.

Four marijuana cigarettes were seized from his possession along with his motorcycle. (JPC)
