A FIXER is facing charges before the court after he was caught in the act receiving license fee from an officer outside the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Davao City two weeks ago.
Charged with violation of the Republic Act 9485, otherwise known as The Anti-Red Tape Act, is Jayson Malaay Atuel, a resident from Matina, Davao City.
In a resolution dated June 14, prosecutor Samuel Atencia found probable cause to charge the accused based on the complaint filed by Victor Sacro and a member from Talomo Police Station.
Record showed that the accused was caught in flagrante when he received money from the complainant.
The money was to expedite the approval for a professional driver’s license being applied by the complainant.
Upon the receipt of the money, the accused was arrested by the police who accompanied the complainant in the “sting” operation.
Fixer refers to any individual whether or not officially involved in the operation of a government office or agency who has access to people working therein, and whether or not in collusion with them, facilitates speedy completion of transactions for pecuniary gain or any other advantage or consideration.
