Comelec-Davao halts printing of IDs

Monday, July 17, 2017

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Davao Region has ordered to stop the printing of the Comelec identification cards (IDs) for upgrading.

"For the meantime, meron kaming babaguhin sa printing para hindi madaling masira yung Comelec IDs natin (we will change something on the printing aspect so it won’t be easily be damage)," said Comelec-Davao Election Assistant Maysah Casar, adding that the ID printing will soon resume.

The commission reported 82,209 total voter’s identification cards remain unclaimed here in Davao City as of June this year. The poll body urged the voters to claim their ID cards.

The voters' ID can be claimed personally at the Comelec-Davao office in Ramon Magsaysay Avenue in Davao City, or by a representative with authorization letter from the owner.

Casar said the cards will no longer be released to the barangay for safety purposes.

She added that they are not sending notifications to voters whose IDs are already available.
