THE City Government of Davao secured P1.5 million worth of donations for restrooms and wash areas to be built in Santa Ana Wharf.
Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) office-in-charge Generose Tecson, in an interview last Monday, September 18, bared that the two banks, Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and the Land Bank of the Philippines, committed to donate for the pier's rehabilitation.
"The DBP committed to donate worth P1 million for the restrooms, and the Landbank committed to donate P500,000 for the washrooms," she said.
She added that the representatives from the Landbank expressed their intention to donate a month ago, while the DBP expressed their intention to donate the amount two weeks ago.
The rehabilitation of the pier was among the areas for development mentioned by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio during her state of the city address or the Soca.
Duterte-Carpio also mentioned the opening of the botanical garden in Marfori.
According to Davao City Environment and Natural Resources Office head Engineer Eliza Madrazo, they just need to install lights so that they can finally open the area for public use.
"Suga na lang ang kulang, para i-present kay mayor. I think magdepende pud na sa supplier, hopefully mahuman before December (It just needs lights in order to be presented to the mayor. I think the installation will also depend on the supplier. Hopefully it will be ready before December)," she said.
Duterte-Carpio also mentioned the planned development of minipark and a skatepark to be built under Agdao Flyover.
