DCPO to deploy 1,800 cops for holiday season

LOCAL authorities are intensifying security measures with the implementation of maximum deployment of security personnel to combat various crimes during the holiday season as well as during Pasko Fiesta 2017 where crowd are expected to flock in several venues.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum said they will continue with their full alert status considering the threats lurking in the city with the mobilization of about 1,800 personnel.

Tagum said that they have already mapped out a security plan that will be implemented in various strategic areas in the city to ensure peace and order.

He also said they will strengthen the police visibility citywide in coordination with other law enforcement agencies and Volunteer Police Auxiliary.

They would also improve their checkpoints and ongoing programs for anti-criminality and anti-terrorism to allow Dabawenyos celebrate the yuletide season with no untoward incidents.

“Our Anti-Criminality strategies like Oplan: Kap-Kap bakal; Check point operations; mobile and foot patrols; and other security operations will continue relentlessly,” he added.

During the Pasko Fiesta, the city government of Davao has prepared activities for various sector in the society including children, members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community; indigenous peoples; senior citizens and persons living with HIV.

The activity will kick off with the lighting of a 40-foot Christmas tree on December 1 to be led by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio.
