Boy rapes 6-year-old cousin

Friday, November 17, 2017

A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl was raped on Monday, November 13, by her 12-year-old cousin at Barangay Limao, Samal District Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos), prompting authorities to coordinate with the Igacos City Social and Welfare Development (CSWD) since the persons involved are both minors.

Police Superintendent Noel Asumen, chief of Police Igacos Police Station said that a case conference was conducted with the Women and Children's Protection Desk (WCPD), CSWD, Barangay Officials and both parents of the suspect and victim to address the sensitive case as to how to overcome the traumatic experience and lessen the psychological effects on the part of the minors.

"Since the suspect is a minor, there would be intervention on the part of the CSWD and the barangay officials for the case of the suspect and the parents," he said. The counseling for the suspect and the parent will be continuous for two years.

Asumen added that he advised the WCPD to recommend the minor suspect to be transferred to Bahay Pasilongan in Davao City since the suspect's case is not a regular Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) case.

Meanwhile, Asumen also said the incident happened on the afternoon of November 13 where the suspect and victim were playing outside their house together with other children.

Around 5 p.m. the minor suspect brought the victim to the grassy portion near their house where the alleged rape happened.

The victim went home crying prompting her mother to ask what happened. The girl detailed what she went through with her cousin.

The parent then reported the incident to the barangay and then the police. The family was referred to the CSWD and the suspect is now under its custody.
