A MOB nearly lynched a man who used a fake peso bill to pay for his purchases at a neighborhood store in Agdao on Tuesday night.
The suspect is identified as Michael Toyoda, 25, a construction worker and resident of Freedom Village, YCF, barangay San Antonio, Agdao district.
Toyoda was arrested by residents as he tried to flee from the store owned by Sonny Bocot, 31, in San Antonio, barangay Leon Garcia, Agdao.
Bocot said Toyoda bought shampoo and milk worth P80 using a fake P500 bill at around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
When Bocot noticed that the money was fake, he sought the help of the barangay residents, who chased Toyoda up to Dalisay in Barangay Agdao Proper.
The residents mauled Toyoda, who said he got the bill from a friend.
Police are now preparing charges against the suspect while investigations are ongoing to identify the man behind the proliferation of the fake peso bills. (AD)
