DUE to unprecedented sharp increase in the number of dengue cases nationwide, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has innovated a dengue kit that would attract and catch mosquito and kill its larvae.
During the Kapihan sa Philippine Information Agency (PIA), DOST Regional Director Tony Sales said they were ordered by President Benigno Aquino III to come up with something that would stop the rise of dengue cases.

The dengue kit contains organic chemical solution that kills mosquitoes and their larvae.
Sales said the chemical solution is contained in a color black container since mosquitoes are attracted to dark color.
"The chemical solution is organic and water-based," he said.
Sales held the trap has successfully passed laboratory tests and will be subjected to field tests in 500 households in Quezon City and 500 households in Marikina City.
"If it will turn out better the way we expect it, it may be also rolled out to the entire country," Sales said.
Councilor Bernard Al-ag, of the committee on health, said in a text message that he welcome such innovation from the DOST.
"I think research and development will play a big role in eradicating dengue virus," Al-ag said.
He also believed that the dengue scenario will last longer so long as the mosquito-causing dengue still exists.
He also encouraged that new ideas and method in fighting dengue must be taken into consideration.
