DAVAO City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday said several policemen are behind video karera gambling in the city.
Duterte did not name names but warned that once he receives a complaint that this form of gambling has affected children, he will hold the policemen responsible.

"Most of the video karera machines here in Davao are owned by policemen. The problem is many children are affected. If somebody complains, then better slow down" Duterte said in vernacular.
"It should not be encouraged," Duterte added.
Duterte, however, said the policemen in the city are respected.
“The police here are afraid to be put to shame," he said.
"Kana lang nagabuhat ug mga dinagkong butang -- kidnapping for hire, droga, carnapping -- uili na. Dili na pwede diri. Basta pulis mubuhat niana diri, markado ka na. Pagbantay na. (Those police who go big time -- kidnapping for hire, drugs, carnapping, we will return them. That will not be allowed here. If the police do that here, you'd be marked. You better watch out)," Duterte said.
Duterte also rued how the Philippine National Police's system "is rotten."
Duterte narrated an incident wherein a police, who made a violation, wished to get his job back.
Duterte said the police was allowed to return back into the organization but had to agree to the condition that his salary for the first six months will not be given to him.
"Pera pera gyud sa Crame. Gusto kang mabalik, okay mabalik ka pero ang imong first six months salary dili ihatag. So ang pulis magbalik magsigig panigbas (It's all about money in Crame. If you want to go back, okay you can but your first six months' salary will not be given, that's why when a police returns to his job he'd still be corrupt)," Duterte said.
"It's a rotten system there. But not all of the police are rotten, perhaps out of five, one or two are. Two would be rare. But really, the system there is conducive to graft and corruption," Duterte said. (JCZ)
