In his speech before the council body, Gonzales said that proper penalties should be imposed to violators of such ordinance should it be passed.
Gonzales stressed that minors should be protected from the requirements and process of initiation of fraternities and sororities as hazing and abuse have already resulted to various "useless deaths of the youth".
"These children need all the help they can get from concerned organization in order to safeguard their future from possible destruction once they are involve in such unruly and chaotic activities," she added.
Gonzales also said similar resolution and ordinances have been passed in local councils, one is from Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President PJ Ann Renancia from the Municipality of Sibuyan.
Vice Mayor Marion Andres and Councilor Wilfred Reyes from Marikina also authored a resolution to penalize those who are caught enlisting members who are below 18 years old, she added. (JCZ)
