Traces of cocaine found in reefer van

DAVAO -- Authorities are conducting further investigation on a reefer van in a container yard in Tibungco, Davao City that showed traces of having been a receptacle for bricks of cocaine.

The container van, with the suspicious traces that indicate it once held cocaine bricks, was noticed Sunday morning.

M’lang plaza blast victims identified

DAVAO -- Authorities have identified the casualties in the blast that rocked M'lang in North Cotabato on Sunday.

The explosion occurred around 7:45 p.m. Sunday inside a billiard hall near the crowded town plaza, killing three people and wounding 23 others.

DAVAO -- Hundreds of Filipinos out to watch the Pacquiao-Algieri fight in Macau were starstruck when they saw Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte among thousands of Filipinos in the crowd there Sunday.

Duterte was about to enter the entrance gates to the Cotai Arena of the Venetian Macau shortly before 10 a.m. when a handful of Pinoys recognized him and shouted: "Hala si Mayor Duterte."

Ampatuan massacre victims remembered

7,030 houses eyed for Typhoon Pablo victims

THE National Housing Authority (NHA) in Davao Region targets to finish a total of 17,030 houses for Typhoon Pablo victims in Davao Oriental and Compostella Valley next year.

Comelec-Davao readies for 2015 SK polls

AN OFFICIAL from the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Davao said Monday that they will still continue their preparations for the 2015 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections until Congress finalizes its decision on postponing it again.

"Kung hindi pa siya nagawang law talaga yung bill for the postponement or putting on hold again the SK elections, patuloy pa rin yung preparations namin for SK elections but kung meron nang law, we will implement kung ano yung law na ipapalabas nang Congress natin," third district Comelec officer Monalisa Mamukid said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at The Annex of SM City Davao.

Dogs vaccination every year urged

'Salvage' victim found

THE body of a man believed to have been summarily executed was found at the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in Barangay Bago Oshiro, Tugbok, Davao City, on Sunday.

Man dies in road mishap

2 dead, 23 hurt in North Cotabato blast

KIDAPAWAN CITY (Updated) -- A bomb exploded late Sunday in a billiard hall near a crowded town carnival in North Cotabato, killing two people and wounding 23 others, officials said.

Mayor Joselito Pinol said two men left the bomb, which was apparently concealed in a bag, at the billiard hall in his town of M'lang in North Corabato province.

P6-M for city's SAM kids

Man killed in shooting incident

Cops should be trained more on self-defense

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said he will recommend more lectures and skills trainings for members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) following an incident where a policeman was mauled by four civilians outside a school on McArthur Highway.

Duterte said the police must be honed more in the field of performance of duty and self defense. He said the training will be given twice a year.

Court favors bank in case over seized car

A REGIONAL Trial Court (RTC) in Davao City has finally put an end to the legal battle between a bank and a private claimant when it ordered the release of the vehicle seized from the warehouse of alleged carnap syndicate leader Ryan "Baktin" Yu in favor of the bank.

RTC Branch 10 Judge Retrina Fuentes, in an order dated October 29, ordered the Regional Highway Patrol Unit (RHPU)-Davao to release the Toyota Hilux to the East West Banking Corp. after she has granted the motions for reconsideration filed by the bank and RHPU-Davao.
