'Baktin' no-show at pre-trial

SUSPECTED carnap syndicate leader Ryan "Baktin" Yap Yu was a no show again during a pre-trial for his carnapping charges before the sala of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 16 which was set Monday.

Yu, who has a standing warrant of arrest issued by RTC Branch 16 Judge Emmanuel Carpio, did not appear before the trial yesterday. Only present during the hearing were Yu's legal counsels Philip Pantojan and Ferlyn Ong and his alleged right-hand man Gerry Paulino.

7 robbery, drug suspects arrested

THE City Prosecution Office affirmed the carnapping charges filed against a minor who allegedly stole a sexagenarian's tricycle in Barangay Poblacion in Toril, Davao City on August 2.

Car crash kills Public Works official

DAVAO – An official of the regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was killed, while two other personnel of the agency were injured, after the vehicle they were riding crashed along the national highway in Barangay Buso in Mati City on Thursday.

The victims came from a project visit in Barangay Tagbinowa in Mati City and were on their way back to Davao City when the incident happened.
