13 NPA rebels yield in ComVal

THIRTEEN members of the New People's Army (NPA) surrendered Saturday to the Army's 66th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Cabinuangan in New Bataan, Compostela Valley.

Of the 13, two are women. Six are from the NPA Front Committee 15, while seven are from the NPA Front Committee 20 -- all under the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee.

A MAN is facing charges before the City Prosecution Office for allegedly trying to kill another in a stabbing incident at Purok 5, Barangay Tungakalan in Toril, Davao City on April 6.

Facing frustrated murder charges is Erwin Madrigal Botron, 40. He was charged after trying to kill Raden Torefel, a 38-year-old driver and a resident of Purok 9, Upper Piedad, Toril.

Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and grave threat is Rachel Calanog Tan, 47, and a resident of Tinikling St., Lanzona Subd., Matina. She was charged for allegedly threatening to kill Methus Carbonel, 31, at her boarding house.

2 men sued for robbery

THE Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) launched Friday a pursuit operation against suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) who recently torched various equipments in Maco town in Compostela Valley.

Eastmincom Public Information officer Capt. Alberto Caber, in a phone interview, said troops under the Army's 10th Infantry Division are coordinating with the Maco Municipal police for pursuit operation against the communist rebels behind the incident.

5 drug dens in Mati shut down

4 behind Davao City fire had left

Troops secure fire-hit areas

Court to resolve ex-village chief case

THE Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Branch 2 presiding judge is set to resolve the election protest of the former chief of Barangay 76-A Bucana in Davao City after the temporary restraining order (TRO) issued by the Commission on Election (Comelec) expired since it was implemented on January 15.

MTCC Branch 2 Judge Marie Estrellita Tolentino-Rojas, in her order dated March 31 said the TRO expired after 60 days since the proceedings of the case were suspended on January 15, 2014.

2 arrested for selling cocaine in Davao

DAVAO CITY -- Members of the Task Group Davao Cocaine seized one kilo of high-grade cocaine and arrested two men in separate buy-bust operations in Bunawan District here on Wednesday.

More than 100 cops to keep peace for Holy Week

Family of slain OFW wants body flown home

THE family of 52-year-old Allan Dultra who was found dead inside his apartment in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia last month is asking help for the return of the victim's body to his hometown in Davao Oriental.

DAVAO DEL NORTE -- The Philippine Army's 60th Infantry Battalion presented in public on Monday the two rebel returnees in Barangay Sto. Niño in Talaingod town.

Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Bunagan, commander of the 60th Infantry Battalion, identified the two former members of the New People's Army (NPA) Front 33, Southern Mindanao Regional Command, as Alvin Julagon, alias Joseph, 21, and Renerio Ricaforte Jr. alias Rasman, 19, both residents of New Corella town in Davao del Norte.

'Domeng' weakens, changes course

THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday that Tropical Depression Domeng (Peipah) has been monitored moving slowly northwest instead of its earlier direction of west northwest.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, the weather bureau monitored Domeng at 550 kilometers east of Davao City. The tropical depression changed course to northwest, moving at five kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds at 55 kph.
