LAND Transportation Office (LTO) in Davao Region endorsed petitions against the immediate implementation of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).
LTO Davao Region officer-in-charge Jesus Joseph Zozobrado said Monday that the agency has already endorsed to the LTO central office a resolution crafted by the City Council committee on energy, transportation, and communication chair Pilar Braga to defer the implementation of the RFID.

Zozobrado said they will also forward the petition submitted to them by public utility jeepney drivers’ activist group Transmission-Piston (TP) who passed the same Monday.
"I'm sure in other regions meron rin yang mga reklamo. We don't know probably the central office might give in to the clamor to reset RFID's implementation. However, for us we have tentative schedules for public forums. But we cannot say when this will be because we're still awaiting the final schedule of the speakers from Manila," Zozobrado said.
Zozobrado announced that the voluntary period for the RFID was moved from November 3 to 16, but the mandatory implementation of RFID remains on January 1.
Around 20 members of TP Monday conducted a protest against the implementation of the RFID in front of the LTO Davao Region office and conducted a meeting with Zozobrado.
Zozobrado said he acknowledge the distaste of TP members against RFID.
"Nadunggan nato ang ilahang mga sentimiento. Nakasabot sila nga nay niining implementasyon pero dili sila uyon sa proseso kay nagkulang sa konsultasyon (We heard their sentiments. They understand that there is an implementation such as this but they don't agree with its process because it lacked consultation)" Zozobrado said.
TP head Edil Gonzaga said Monday that they were unsatisfied with the dialogue with Zozobrado.
"Ana man jud na pirmi, iyahang i-ingon kay wala siya'y mabuhat tungod nagasunod lang pud siya sa order sa Manila (It's always like that, he'll say he couldn't do anything because he's just following orders from Manila)," Gonzaga said.
Gonzaga said TP is preparing to file a temporary restraining order (TRO) for the implementation of RFID.
Bayan spokesperson John Birondo said they remain skeptical of the main reason for the RFID implementation.
Birondo said that before the RFID is implemented, it should be considered that seven out of 10 Filipinos are considered poor. "Ang kapobrehon sa tao unta ang ilahang gitututkan (The people's poverty should be their focus)."
"The RFID is not the immediate need of the public but rather scrapping the oil deregulation law kay tungod ani dili ma-control ang price sa oil (since because of this the oil price cannot be controlled). Mao gyud ni ang nagapalisud sa mga drivers (This is the greatest burden of the drivers)," Birondo said.
