MILF condemns Israel's attack

THE Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) condemned the ongoing offensive of Israel in Gaza that killed at least 500 Palestinians, most of whom are said to be civilians.

Sheikh Muhammad Muntassir, chairperson of the MILF's da'wah committee, said: "Israel deserved the highest condemnation of the world in systematically killing defenseless civilians and illegally and immorally occupying Palestinian lands."

"Israel thrives on blood, sufferings and destructions of the Palestinians. This occupation must be ended and let the Palestinians reoccupy their lands including East Jerusalem," he said in a statement posted on Luwaran.com Sunday.

Israeli tanks and infantry entered Gaza after nightfall Saturday, launching a ground offensive. Hamas, however, vowed to fight up to the last man. Heavy gun battles were reported as troops crossed the border into Gaza.

East Jerusalem is where the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque are located. Al Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest mosque in Islam after Mecca and Madinah.

Israel's land assault in Gaza, which started Saturday evening (Sunday morning in the Philippines), was strongly criticized by the Arab world.

The United Nations' Security Council was also criticized for not coming up with any official statement regarding the Gaza offensive. (BOT)

Similarly, the MILF should

Similarly, the MILF should also be condemned for the killing of innocent civilians early August.

Similarly, the Islamic world condemns Israel for defending its citizens against rocket attacks by Hamas. So this will be a vicious cycle condemning everyone.

Who is really the rightful owner of the land now called Israel?

Please read the Old Testament. I don't think God would lie to us.

Who is the real owner of Mindanao also? Is it the Moros or the Lumads or the Filipino people?

Again, this would be a never ending search for answer.

Who are Rajah Lakandula, Rajah Soliman, and Rajah Matanda and the rest of the nobility who settled in and around Pasig River? What religion did they have at that time? How about prior to the coming of that religion?

If we read carefully the Filipinos' history, and if not for the coming of Spain, Manila and likely the entire country would be Islamized.

Nothing wrong with that. There is also nothing also wrong with people in Mindanao especially our Moro brothers and sisters who want to retain their identify and religion.

What is wrong? In my opinion, it is wrong to advocate change especially armed rebellion simply because we have differing religions. Religion will not save us, it is the love and compassion we have for each other. Religion would not guarantee us heaven (again my opinion). It is Almighty God's will and mercy that would give us salvation.

How are we going to receive His mercy if we always want to do "our" will, not His will. Is it His will to kill one another? I don't think so. Is it His will to separate and hate one another (instead of love and compassion)? I don't think so.

Is the will of the MILF the will of God or the will of the leaders of the MILF and the people? There is the dilemma and for sure it is not His will that we continue killing each other just because we want to preserve our way of life.

Was that way of life altered in Philippine society? Personally, I don't think so. The Philippines is a democratic country which allows and even encourages the growth of one's belief, as long as it is within the law.

Will Saudi Arabia allow other religions to flourish in their country? I don't think so. Will you be allowed to bring a Bible in that country?

So you could just imagine what would happen in Mindanao if the MILF becomes the authority? They are more of fundamentalist believers, will most likely introduce a different law that discriminates against women and likely against different beliefs. They would like introduce barbaric laws such as beheading, cutting of hands or fingers, flagging and stoning to death. Are these compassionate ways of treating sinners or offenders of the laws?

On the other hand, there are a lot of laws that would likely be good for citizens such as banning of X-rated movies, kissing in public (like in Malaysia) but could this be abused such that even the holding of hands would be punishable by law. No alcohol (would be good in my opinion).

You see, there is no perfect religion or law that emanates from these religions. The only basis, perhaps, that we could lean on is: "Is that the will of God Almighty?" Is it the will of God to behead a sinner or to stone to death an adulterous woman or a raped woman would need 3 male witnesses before a judge would believe that she was raped? Or would that be God's will to chop off someone's hand because he or she stole a carabao or a goat? Or would it be legitimate or Godly to kill because someone is an "unbeliever"? Are these God's will?

The conflict in the Middle East is a never ending one. Israel, a country of a few million souls, will never find rest against overwhelming its haters of close to a billion population. Is that God's will to hate the Israelites? To condemn them for returning to the land that the Almighty God promised them after they were scattered in the different parts of the globe. Is that the Israelis' fault?

Is it not enough that they have that land and perhaps live together with the Palestinian people in peace? This I categorically say is impossible if there is hatred on both sides of the fence, if people in the region would not recognize Israel's right to exist. Perhaps Almighty God is testing all of us on how we treat one another, i.e. the Palestinian, the Israelis, the Moro people, the majority of the Filipino people, etc.

Is it our fault that we believe doctrines different from others or are we really reading, understanding, and implementing the correct doctrine? Anyway, we just pray so we would be led by that Spirit that will help us discern the Truth!

Above else, we should love one another (not hate) because this is the simplest law that has been revealed to us by God Almighty (and in vain we are all failing because we insist that our belief is superior to that of others and our belief - and no one else - will guarantee us eternity!).

We pray unceasingly so we find the Truth! It will be revealed and it is being revealed (but we have kept closing our eyes and ears).
