AN AMERICAN online company has urged Dabawenyos to join its online global workforce and be a part in "changing how the world works."
In an interview with Sun.Star Davao, Odesk.com's marketing communication manager Erica Benton said the company is the largest and fastest-growing platform for online work.

"Contractors of oDesk enjoy more work opportunities, guaranteed payment for hourly work and better tools for creating successful businesses online," she said.
She said over 47,000 job opportunities were available on oDesk in May and contractors made nearly $9 million during that same period.
Benton said "oDesk is the virtual workspace for a rapidly growing user base of over 600,000 contractors worldwide. There are currently over 66,000 contractors from the Philippines working on oDesk and nearly 4,000 users list Davao City as their home town."
Based on oDesk.com's Monthly Online Jobs Report for May 2010, the Philippines is top provider country with more than $900,000 in total revenues, with Davao City ranks as the 20th provider city in the world, and continuously rising.
"Contractors in the Philippines receive feedback on par with the average across oDesk, suggesting their work is well-received by employers on our platform," Benton said.
She went on to say that the Philippines has become a top provider (contractor) country as it has the ingredients critical to large-scale remote work success, a talented workforce, excellent communication skills, interpersonal warmth, problem-solving abilities, cultural affinity with the West, and costs competitive with any other supplier country in the world.
"We are a platform for online work that is recognized by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), an American organization that rates the quality of businesses," Benton said.
BBB is a US-based agency that aims to protect consumers from shady business establishments. It rates all kinds of businesses on a scale of A+ to F, with F being the lowest. BBB gave oDesk an A+.
