Murder victim's kin determined to sue killers

THEY will fight for justice until it is served to them, vows the family of the victim who was murdered on New Year's Day in Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya.

"Grabe ang ilang gibuhat, amo gyud ning ipadayon hantud sa mahuman (What they did was unforgivable. We will fight this out until the end)," Clorenda Noya, widow of Jerry Noya, told Sun.Star Davao.

Noya added they could not think of a single motive why their neighbors would kill her husband.

"Wala man na sila naglalis, amo pa man gani na silang mga bisita pag naay okasyon sa balay (They never had a misunderstanding. We would even invite those who killed my husband to our house whenever there's an occasion)," Noya said.

Jerry Noya, a coordinator of the local political party Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod in Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, was killed past midnight of Thursday.

Based on the joint affidavit complaint of Clorenda Noya and Ladislao Noya Sr., father of the victim, the murder was carried out by friends and political peers of the victim, namely: Jing-Jing Almazan, Danny Balo, "Bobong" Almazan, Boy Ebol, and another unidentified suspect.

Murder charges have been filed Monday against Bobong Almazan and Boy Ebol who are now detained. The three others remain at large.

Initial investigation of the Talomo Police Station showed that Jerry, 46, a resident of Punta Dumalag 2, was standing near the table of the organizers of a disco party when the suspects peppered him with bullets.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds in the head, left ear, and in the left eye.

The members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) recovered five empty shells of 9mm caliber pistol. (CPM)
