Nonato rules Duterte bikefest

INDAY Sara cycling team captain Dexter Nonato ruled the 9th Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Cycling Challenge individual classification and crowned himself Eagle of the Mountain on Saturday.
In ruling the race, Nonato clocked two hours, 27 minutes and 33 seconds.

Mark Llorica of Bikingkoy placed second after submitting a clocking of two hourse, 27 minutes and 43 seconds.
Glen Yap of Inday Sara finished third with his time of two hours, 27 minutes and 53 seconds.
Nonato won P3,000 for topping the event and an additional P1,000 for his Eagle of the Mountain title. Llorica received P2,000 and Yap P1,000 from the organizers.
Nonato arrived first at the Eagle of the Mountain designated line at in front of Magtuod barangay hall and successfully made his break away moved at Upper Bunawan along with teammate Ronnie Urdaneta and Llorica.
The trio race together but upon reaching at the gate of Monteritz in Barangay Maa at the start of uphill climb, Urdaneta broke his bike chain.
Seeing Urdaneta experiencing mechanical trouble, Nonato took advantage and increased his speed chasing Llorica, before eventually catching up with him and winning the race.
"I really appreciated how Dexter showed his in supremacy in cycling. He has superb skills to win any national or international competition if given chance," PhilCycling vice president for Mindanao Salvador "Jun" Paholio said.
"And if Vice Mayor Inday Sara Duterte will be given the chance to be our next mayor in Davao City, I am confident she will support projects in the pursuit of sports development and the discovery of new talents in Davao as well a program aimed at bringing messages of peace, harmony and solidarity," Paholio added.
In team classification, Bikingkoy emerged winner by submitting and accumulated time seven hours and 25 minutes, the victory worth P6,000.
Inday Sara placed second to win P4,000 and Redsans Kidapawan ended up third to settle for P3,000.
Davao City Councilor Edgar Ibuyan, representing Mayor Duterte, awarded the cash prizes to the top finishers.
"I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks for the support for the success extended by the Traffic Managemenr Group headed by Police Superintendent Noel Marcos Fermin, Bong Go of the City Sports Office, Engr. Jose D. Gestueveo for helping us make the newly-built farm-to-market roads available to the riders," Paholio said.
