Get involved in a team

How many times we find ourselves doing things all by our lonesome? Is it because we are the only ones who can do it or others just refused to do their share to make things happen? Whatever the reasons are, it is a reality that sometimes we will be facing indifferent people along the way.

A perfect setup in a workplace or even in school is far from being achieved. If husband and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend are having quarrel even if they are only a pair, how much more to a group with at least 10 people, even worse to a hundred or more.

The key here is to know your team very well. If a dialogue to thresh out the differences and capitalize with each other's strength is necessary, by all means conduct it. Open rebuke is better than secret love as stated in the Book of Proverbs which means that being open to each other is the key to understand each other better.

It is not advisable to assume and pretend that everything is okay, that everything is in the right place. Sometimes the word 'OK' is not really that okay. It is just a hidden way of saying that something is missing, something needs to be done.

In a group, even if only one will go astray, this will be felt by everyone. It is therefore a necessity for the leader to reach out to everybody and know each sentiment before proceeding to the next step. Consultation must be done first before finalizing a decision especially if it will affect everybody.

It may be tedious and time consuming but the time used to iron out the kinks will be worthwhile compared to time wasted patching a sour relationship brought by misunderstanding.

This may not work all the time as there are those people who cannot get out from their comfort zone but this should not stop one from trying to make it work. It is not anymore your fault if they are that really hard to convince, at least you have done your part. You can now say, "I'm glad, I did" compared to, "I'm sad, I did not attempt".

Involving the team in a task will motivate everyone to share what each has and sharing the success to each member of the team boasts each one's pride of oneself.
