Editorial: Fanning the flames-A A +A

THERE’S a call for a remake of the Million People March on September 11, which is called Edsa Tayo, but it’s not gaining as much interest as the Million People March did in social networks.
Why that is, we will never now. But Malacanang spokesperson Edwin Lacierda was whining about it saying it’s a Wednesday, a Baclaran Day, which as it is means heavy traffic; and that September 11 has no significance except that it’s the birthday of former dictator President Ferdinand E. Marcos.
Irritating, as they always are, yipping and yapping their way into the news. Having suffered through that, let’s just hope that the lack of interest in not because we are already learning to accept that nothing’s going to happen to the senators and congressmen who have benefitted a lot from the alleged pork barrel skimming activities of the fake non-government organizations set up by Janet Napoles precisely to get their hands on otherwise near untouchable funds.
The anger should not tone down, the disgust should even worsen as each day exposes greater greed and deceit.
Let not repeated lies ever convince us that they are actually telling the truth. Rather, let us expose lie after lie and hold each one accountable for the lies they speak.
We may have been charmed for our votes, but let us not remain enamored by the deceiving ways. It has been done, for over a decade, and it will be done again, for as long as we allow them to and choose to rest quietly in our knowledge that we do not condone what is happening.
Silence during these times should never be condoned, this is the time to protest because the crooks in our government are just waiting for the time when we will get tired of all the shouting before they will strike again for more gold and a couple of Porsche.
