STAKEHOLDERS support matters Director’s Cut: (This portion features the thoughts of DepEd 11 Regional Director Gloria D. Benigno, CESO IV to all stakeholders and recipients of the efforts to improve the basic education) "I am your team leader, you are my team mates, together, let us work as a team”
I have been to two secondary schools in the Division of Compostela Valley during their Midyear Program Review and Evaluation last week yielding to the invitation of two of my administrator friends ever since I was in college, Dr. Editha Jao and Mrs. Lina G. Sescon of Monkayo NHS and Montevista NHS respectively.
In both schools, I talked about the important role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in classroom instruction. I also reminded the teachers to enroll in two important DepEd accounts to help them in their day to day encounter with their students and in their own professional development.
I emphasized to them the need to have an official DepEd email account courtesy of Google (firstname.lastname@example.org) because of its various advantages in all aspects of the teaching and learning process. The main reason in having one is that it is one’s identity as DepEd teacher/employee as no other government employee can have such account but only the teaching and non-teaching personnel of DepEd. They can get it from http://depedverify.appspot.com.
Another major reason for having such email account is the opportunity to download all the resources pertaining to K to 12 materials for both the teachers and students. Only those with official DepEd Google email can receive such very essential teaching and learning materials.
I also reiterated to the teachers the need to have an account in the LRMDS portal (lrmds.deped.gov.ph) so that they can download learning and teaching resources and professional development materials from the said educational portal built through the help of the Australian Government (Ausaid) under the Strive program.
I witnessed the turnover of the rehabilitated and repaired classrooms of Monkayo NHS by the Habitat for Humanity, Philippines headed by Regional Director for Region 11 and Caraga, Atty. Abdussador B. Sawadjaan Jr. The classrooms were destroyed by Typhoon Pablo almost a year ago.
In that occasion, the Office of Senior Provincial Board Member Ramil Gentugaya through his wife Joanne turned over Php 15,000.00 for the student lounge and the presentation of various donations of the Habitat for Humanity to the schools and students in the Municipality of Monkayo.
Honorable SB Member Domingo Estrada, Education Committee Chairman was also there to show support to various programs and projects of the school. The said various projects of the school received words of gratitude from the school principal herself, PTA President Vicente Doctolero, Brigada Eskwela Coordinator Ernie Cabunoc, Student Government President Marlon Suelto and Faculty Club President Cornelio Amora.
This corner hopes that more and more government and non-government organizations will continue to support various programs and projects of DepEd in order to give face to every child, the center of the educative process.
