Valiant women of our times

IT MAY not only be during our times today that we see how women are becoming even bolder as leaders in many aspects as society continues to grow and, perhaps, degenerate. We have seen so many among our kabaro who have made great strides in pursuing women's emancipation from the shackles of the past that continues to persist in our present time.

This is not to say though that only the "educated", sophisticated and well-placed women have made Philippine society a better place today than any other time. It is actually the small, seemingly "insignificant" efforts of the so-called ordinary day-to-day women and their works and struggles that have really made momentous contributions in society's development, although unknowingly and quite surprisingly, they don't even seem to realize this.

Simply just by being their own selves, doing the "little" things for the family and their immediate community, the women have unconsciously pursued humankind's greatest task of ensuring the survival of humanity, even if her laudable efforts continues to be belittled and ignored.

One thing's certain: without WOMAN, the opposite sex would find it difficult to continue living, even if at times, it is also woman that is faulted for man's downfall when in fact, it is man's greatest weakness when it comes to keeping their libido at bay that should be seen as the real culprit.

Don't get me wrong, I am a great admirer of the men in my life. They have, for the best part of my existence, largely contributed to making what I am and the best that I have become today. They have taught me things that my mother did not pass on to me, as they are responsible for teaching me priceless lessons of how it is to be a woman.

I have also seen how the "opposite sex" complements our lives as human beings, though, honestly, I can say we can really exist without them, no pun intended. But I cannot say the same thing about the men who could not seem to do without a woman in their lives, though there are exceptional men who do.

Women, like mother-nature, are endowed with all the necessary tools she needed to pursue her task as co-creator, and to be God's creation that is created not only in the image and likeness of the Great Being. She is a perfect expression of God's love for humanity sans all the frills and mundane things that tries to distract her.

She heals when she cries, even if the wounds inflicted on her are deeply etched. She is capable of laughing through her pain, as much as she can give everything that she is when she loves, even if her lover don't deserve it.

Who else can give life so unselfishly as the one who is ready to give up her own so that her offspring lives?
