Director’s Cut: (This portion features the thoughts of DepED 11 Regional Director Gloria D. Benigno, CESO IV to all stakeholders and recipients of the efforts to improve the basic education) "I am your team leader, you are my team mates, together, let us work as a team”

In a press release issued by the Department of Education in its official website, it was published that DepED Secretary Br. Armin Luistro, FSC reminded all the third level officials (assistant superintendents and superintendents) of their responsibilities as executives in their respective divisions.

He even emphasized his statement using the Filipino language during their oath taking on April 22 this year when he said, “Kung ano ang ating tinatanim, ‘yun din ang bunga. Marami kayong mga desisyon na gagawin bilang Assistant Superintendent at Superintendent. At lahat ng mga desisyon na iyan ay desisyon para sa kagawaran at para sa mga kabataang pinagsisilbihan natin.”

Schools Division Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents are third-level officials whose appointments are signed by the President and who need to swear an oath before the head of the agency.

The education chief reminded the officials of the trials and challenges that may distract them from their responsibilities. He hoped that though those challenges would come, they would still remember how their decisions would affect future generations.

For his part as the finance manager of the organization, DepEd Undersecretary Rizalino Rivera told the officials that with being a DepEd executive comes the responsibility to, not only take care of their personnel and the students, but to also be an example of what a real worker should be.

He pointed out that officials should be aware of the in and out of DepED in every actions and decisions that they would make and for them to be deserving of the roles given to them.

Before he ended his speech, Luistro quoted Pope Francis and challenged the officials to be officials ‘who smell like their sheep.’ He hopes that all officials would grow familiar and truly be more knowledgeable with the youth whom they will serve this coming June.

This corner hopes that all DepED officials and education stakeholders will work together to achieve the vision, mission and objectives of DepED for all the youth of this country,
