COMMISSION of Human Rights Commissioner Chairperson Etta Rosales appears to be overwhelmed by her job she comes out ballistic against Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's corrosive language against hardcore criminals that make the lives of peaceful citizens miserable.

I do not know why Rosales sensitivity is often piqued by the lingo prompting the social media to react and asked which side is she siding with. Like her predecessor, Leila Delima, she misses the significance and impact of the vitriolic message used by Duterte when it comes to dealing with lawless elements.

I think that until now Rosales has not fathomed what prods Mayor Duterte to use rough language one that would jolt criminals. And before we start lecturing on her why, she better hones herself up first on some basic tenets of freedom of expression as against commission of human rights violation. Of course the mayor cannot be faulted for cursing and using threats befitting a criminal. That he said he backs Mayor Herbert Bautista for slapping a drug lord and spiced this with the usual vitriol hardly partakes of a crime or violation of the suspect's human rights.

Even if Digong says he will kick and tie a noose around the suspect, that still will not amount to any tint of human rights violation. But Rosales can be certain that if our mayor catches a drug lord peddling shabu in the streets of Davao she and the suspect can be certain that someone will leave the city horizontally...if he attempts to fight it out with the authorities. With that I hope that Etta gets my drift.

Anyway for raising a howl and take umbrage against Duterte on Bautista's sloppy slapping sins, Chairperson Etta Rosales has actually stirred a virtual hornet's nest. In a peace conference the mayor called after the formal opening of Kadayawan, and in the presence of dozens of police, military and journalists the Mayor turned the table against Rosales. Predicating his tirade on the CHR chair by saying that she does not have any moral ascendancy on him or anyone for that matter, Duterte challenged Rosales to explain why she has asked for cash advances from the scam queen Janet Napoles.

Now that is worth investigating. Etta must absorb lesson from this skirmishes with Digong like: never throw stones on your pet peeve otherwise that pet might throw back dung unto you.
