Somebody to love

ALL the talk about changing the Constitution to allow the President to run for a second term is just all talk. This is not some sort of mystery.

The source of the talk being the supposed successor of the President, and the members of their political party who have joined the lively conversation and echoed the same call, is the mystery.

To be sure, the anointed one and his friends have a reason or a set of reasons why, at a time when the next election is already being publicly discussed, they suddenly floated this incomprehensible idea of a second term clearly prohibited by the Constitution.

Without a doubt, since the fact of charter change is really out of the question at this late time, there must be some ulterior motive behind this strategic and tactical maneuver.

In any case, since the President has decided to jump right into the center of the matter, albeit in a way so vague, then the very interested sectors of our society immediately pitched in their own reactions, responses and opinions.

Too bad, when we are all supposed to be finding ways to solve the problems of the present, we have begun to spend all our time creating problems for the future.

Too bad, when we are all supposed to be focused in uplifting the lives of our people, in rehabilitating the areas damaged by multiple disasters, and in preparing for the numerous challenges that are coming soon, we are distracted by all the brouhaha over changing the rules in the middle of the game that we are not even winning.

Too bad, when we are all supposed to be presented with the truth and nothing but the truth, we are being made to watch a show of smokes and mirrors.

It would have been best for the President to just have dismissed the suggestion outright and instead tell his bosses to not worry about any attempt to perpetuate himself in power but instead help him overcome the many crises that have befallen our country and our people.

It would have been best for the President to just have ordered his presumptive candidate and the members of their political party to stop any and all noise about his running for President again and instead help him deliver the many promises that he has yet to fulfill.

It would have been best for the President to just have been honest to himself and to everybody else that he can no longer wait for his tenure to finish so that he can already find somebody to love.
