Quake shakes Maguindanao, N. Cotabato

AN EARTHQUAKE with a 5.9 magnitude shook Maguindanao and North Cotabato Monday afternoon.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology Seismology (Phivolcs) Cotabato chief Amir Bajar, the quake was felt at intensity 4 in Cotabato City and intensity 3 in Pagadian and General Santos cities.

Zamboanga, Cagayan De Oro, Koronadal, Davao City and Kidapawan felt the quake at intensity 2.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and was tracked at the Cotabato Trench and 53 kilometers southwest out to sea.
No one was reported injured or dead in the quake. However, residents near Rio Grande Mindanao fled from their homes after the waters rose. Others living near the seas also fled for fear of tidal waves. (Edgardo Fuerzas)
