VETERAN pintoppler Paul Rabe emerged as champion in the Dutba October Bowler of the Month finals held at the NCCC Mall B3 lanes recently.

Rabe, who gained the twice-to-beat advantage after topping the eliminations, lost to Robert Tepoot, 165-186, in the first game but recovered in the sudden death championship match, 205-194.

In the step-the-ladder finals, top qualifier No. 3 Jeff Gancio beat No. 4 Nitz Subido, 184-164, but No. 2 Tepoot demolished Gancio, 193-184, to arrange a titular clash against Rabe in the meet organized by the Durian Tenpin Bowlers Association (Dutba).

Rabe received a cash prize of P4,000 while Tepoot, Gancio and Subido pocketed P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively. They also received trophies.

Rabe also took P1,000 for being the top qualifier. He won another P500 for ruling the weekly event while Gancio got P300 for placing second.

Top lady scorer Tina Alovera went home with P200. (MLSA)
