AND gulp they did like there was no tomorrow. But gulping down five bottles of San Miguel Pale Pilsen Beer was what led to the team from Puerto Princesa to bag the championship in this year's San Miguel Brewery's National Beer Drinking Contest.

Staged in the picturesque resort island of Mactan in Cebu, the National Beer Drinking Contest gathered some of the country's fastest and most determined contestants who proudly carried the respective areas that they represented.

Unseating last year's champion, 2008 was bagged by Cebu, are the beer drinkers from Puerto Princesa who came all the way to Cebu City together with their wives.

This year, the much anticipated Oktoberfest series was staged across the cities of Koronadal, Tagum, and Dapitan complete with exciting events and overflowing San Miguel Beer.

Popular bands Sugarfree, Itchyworms, and Brownman Revival enlivened the crowds with their all-time hits, together with local entertainers rendering song and dance performances. Apart from onstage treats, San Miguel Beer has made available side activities where partygoers can win SMB premium items.

Booths for the San Miguel Shoot-out Challenge, Red Horse Beer Rock's Greatest Hits, San Mig Light Speed Stackers and Gold Eagle Beer Videoke-han were put up in the venue to up the fun and ante. The "barkada" can play in each booth while enjoying their favorite San Miguel Beer Brand.
