THE Agro-Industrial Foundation College of the Philippines (AIFCP) Sailors defeated Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) Crusaders, 82-74, Saturday to capture the Mayor Sara-Vice Mayor Rody Duterte Kadayawan Inter-Collegiate Basketball crown at the Davao City Recreation Center.
Clemente Ruiz spearheaded the Sailors in offense with 26 points and made it a double celebration after earning Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors.

Ruiz got scoring support from Miko Estrellante and Ericson Galacgac, who fired 14 and nine points, respectively, for Agro.
The Crusaders put up a gallant stand, but just couldn't stop the Sailors from bagging the title. What compounded their woes was the injury suffered by main gunner Jonard Pinto in the second half.
Levi Ochate and Lloyd Lacida scored 14 apiece to lead the Crusaders' attack. Pinto was limited to only four points after sustaining an injury in the third period.
The Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) Blue Knights, meanwhile, toppled Emar College, 86-75, to place third in the meet presented by the city government of Davao and sanctioned by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) regional director Regino "Boy" Cua.
The Sailors beat the Blue Knights in the semifinals while the Crudaders earned the right to meet Agro after downing Emar in the other final four for clash.
Agro, mentored by veteran coach Matt Cubero and assistants Arman Villanueva and Mike Maniego, received the champion's purse of P15,000 from the organizers. The Cruders settled for P10,000.
