DAVAO City's Akira Michico Sam topped the boys 11 to 12 years old category of the Alaska Ironkids Series at the Manila Polo Club on Sunday.
Sam, a 2009 World Kids Triathlon campaigner in Yokohama , Japan, led the six-member city team that is also composed of Kurt Thomas, who placed third in boys 11-12 event.
Denise Faith Garcia, also a Yokohama Triathlon veteran, placed third in the girls 13-14 event while Moritz Leuenberger finished fourth in the boys seven to eight category.
Katrina and Martha Leuenberger also competed in the event that attracted over 300 kid triathletes.
The Davao team was sponsored by Davao Everflex, Gold Ribbon Bakeshop and Boondocks Cycle.
The Davao Ironkids will next see action in the Subic International Triathlon set on May 1 and 2 in Subic, Zambales and in the IronKids Triathlon at Camarines Sur on August 22. (MLSA)
