The research study will determine the financing behavior on financing prospects of micro-entrepreneurs in Davao del Sur in the context of the Cumulative Prospect Theory (CPT) posited by Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman in 1992.
Cumulative Prospect theory describes decision choices of human beings among risky prospects. The lack of access to formal credit of micro-entrepreneurs in the Philippines can be categorized as a risky prospect.
CPT in this study will describe and explain the financing behavior of micro entrepreneurs in Davao del Sur in loss aversion terms as influenced by framing.
In this study, the financing behavior of micro-entrepreneurs will be in terms of financing decisions on financing prospects. Financing decisions will be in terms of the decision of micro-entrepreneurs on their choice of various hypothetical financing prospects.
Financing prospects will be hypothetical microcredit loan products based on the existing microcredit loan products extended by selected microfinance institutions (MFIs).
Respondents of this study are micro-entrepreneurs in Davao del Sur who are active clients of any of the four MFIs included in this study, who each have a duly registered business with the city or municipality of their business location, and whose business is duly registered with the Davao del Sur Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Instruments that will be used in this study are: (1) secondary data form the selected MFIs; (2) secondary data from the Business Registration Office of the city and municipalities of Davao del Sur; (3) secondary data from the Davao del Sur DTI office; and (4) researcher-made questionnaire on the financing prospects that will be administered to the respondents of the study.
The data collected will be treated using Multiple Regression and using the equations of CPT. (PR)
