Exciting stunts at Motocross race

HIGH flying and intense motocross action regaled bike riders and enthusiasts when the 74th Araw ng Dabaw Phoenix Cyclomax Motocross race was staged last March 27 at the Moto-X Davao Racetrack at Crocodile Park in Maa.
The day belonged to Jessie Salceda of Bukidnon and Rhowell "Bornok" Mongosong as they stood out the best riders in their respective categories out of the 124 participants who came to showcase their riding skills.
Salceda topped the Veterans category, while Mangosong ruled two categories during the exciting event that highlighted the 74th Araw ng Dabaw celebration. The event had Phoenix Petroleum Philippines as its gold sponsor for the third straight year, powering the Motocross with Phoenix Cyclomax motorcycle oils.
Behind Salceda, Jerry Tibs finished second in the Veterans category and Timoy Almoguez came in third.
In the Expert Production Open category, Mangosong landed first, followed by Jeven Lagrada and Kimboy Pineda. Mangosong made it a twin kill when he also topped the Pro Open Production Class category with Pineda in second place and Primitivo "Dondon" Capilitan in third.
Alfred Bubuli grabbed first spot in the Executive Class category. Joenel Taping finished in second place and Dave Mejia lande third.
Jeven Lagrada finished first at the Intermediate Production Open category, with Renato Mangosong and Badjuk Echem were just behind him.
In the Novice Production Open category, Glen Lapuz bagged first place, while Bobong Catipay and Michael Tapic came in second and third, respectively.
John Almerino matched Mangosong's two-title romp, emerging chamnpion in the Enduro Open and Beginners Production Open categories.
Winston Fernandez came in second and Angelo Pogosa placed third in the Enduro Open, while Ceet Jan Sambon and Jessie Pineda captured the second and third spots, respectively, in the Beginners Production Open category.
Resty "Daloydoy" Panilag won the Enduro 4-Stroke category, followed by Vincent Pinga at second place and Tristan Galanto at third.
Gilbert Jamio raced his way to first place of the Underbone category. Gaboy Las placed second and Jeffrey Duat third.
In the Pantra category, Ian Bandigan finished first, followed by second and third placers Angelo Pogosa and Eric Cordova.
The Miniclass 85cc category top prize went to Joven Lagrada. Norben "Abu' Mata III and Harley Canlas finished second and third, respectively.
In the PeeWee/Ladies Class, Neil Christian Saramosing emerged winner, with Louie Tamayo and Jeslyn Lombov landing second and third spots.
Organizers modified the Moto-X Davao racetrack to accommodate faster riders and give more air time on jumps, resulting in more spectacular sights. A new set of 15 individual motorcycle starting gates was also installed at the racetrack to level the playing field of all participants.
