Paquibato seizes 2 table tennis crowns

PAQUIBATO District bagged two titles at the close of the Unit 2 Meet table tennis competition held at the F. Bustamante Central Elementary School recently.
The tandem of Harold Jan Bagbag and Michael Montañez walloped the Malabog pair Meljan Pano and Juneryl dela Torre, 3-0, in their elementary boys doubles finals match. Bagbag and Monta¤ez settled for the runner-up honors instead.

Bangoy bets Jeremiahnel Ditchon and Joseph Tajale III as well as Bunawan's Joe France Bantan and Yudin Palma placed third and fourth, respectively.
Paquibato's Dionel Buot crushed Malabog's Vergel Restauro, 3-0, to rule the boys singles event. Restauro placed second while Tibungco players Johnrex Ayeng and Denmark Cane occupied the next two spots.
Tibungco, however, snared the girls singles crown after Rose Sheene Laroza edged teammate Shaira Mae Rasonable, 3-2. Paquibato's Jolina Colina was third and Malabog's Swissa Mae Toto came in fourth.
Malabog also shared a piece of glory after Lilian Zabate and Ivonne Angeline Cabanes subdued Paquibato's Wella Canlobo and Erica Urboda, 3-1, in the girls doubles titular showdown. Bunawan's Sheen Mañego and Jenny Sefuentes placed third while Tibungco's Rosalyn Mingueto and Jamby Maturan finished fourth.
Unit meet winners will advance to the Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Meet slated October 24 to 28 at the Davao City National High School.
Top DCAA Meet performers will then see action in the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet set on February 7 to 11 in New Bataan, Compostela Valley en-route to the Palarong Pambansa set sometime in April or May in Luzon.
It can be recalled that Davao Region failed to win a gold medal in table tennis in the 2011 Palaro held in Dapitan City where Davao City player Gil Ablanque only suited up for a bronze in secondary boys singles. (MLSA0
