NEWLY APPOINTED Ateneo de Davao University (AdDu) athletic director William "Butch" Ramirez urged AdDU's varsity players to continue to strive for excellence and give honor to the school.
Ramirez, speaking at a recent annual get-together party of the varsity athletes, assured them that the Ateneo college athletics will continue to nurture them to achieve their academic and athletic excellence and "put values at the center of your lives."

"Academics and athletics excellence have no finish line. We may chase a dream, and we continue to chase that with values," Ramirez said.
Ramirez, former chair of the Philippine Sports Commission and now consultant of Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, was joined in the gathering by coaches and players of basketball, volleyball and badminton.
Ramirez hosted dinner for the athletes during the gathering and exchanged pleasantries with them.
The Ateneo sports chief also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the varsity athletes whom, he said, sacrificed a lot for the school.
"We are proud of you and thank you for being part of the Atene de Davao Athletics Varsity," Ramirez said.
"I am praying that in our life's journey, we are not like a floating driftwood in a swirling water. I just hope that as we continue to play in the Varsity, we have a strong faith and do something for the greater glory of God," he added.
