60 golfers in Apo tournament

SOME 60 golfers who emerged champions in their respective divisions the past year will try to outgun each other when the Apo Golf and Country Club will stage highly anticipated Tournament of Champions at its scenic course from January 21 to 22.

The participants in the two-day event are all winners in the monthly medal tournaments of Apo the previous year and are invited again to display their skills in one more major battle.

"They will be back," Apo's Billy Parilla said. "These winners are doing it again for one more event -- the Tournament of Champions."

Competing against each other in the coming competition are champions in the regular, guest, seniors and ladies divisions.

Apo Golf and Country Club will also hold on the same dates the regular Monthly Medal Tournament for January, according to Parilla.

"Everything is set for the tournament. Apo is in great shape and participants will really have a grand time on the course," Parilla said.

Handsome prizes at stake for the winners in the different categories. Awarding will follow at the clubhouse after the final day.

Apo Golf and Country Club had staged a very successful 22nd Durian Tee Invitational Golf Tournament in November last year.

The event, which drew a total of 400 golfers from all over the country, was co-presented by Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. and supported by several major companies in Davao City.
