Combatants SRK rule karatefest

THE Combatants Shurin Ryu Karatedo of Toril dominated the 1st Combatants Invitational Challenge Tournament at the Doña Carmen Denia City High School (DCDNHS) covered court over the weekend.
The Nestor Alegado-coached karatedo squad bagged a total of five gold medals, five silvers and six bronzes in both kumite (sparring) and kata (form) events.
The Comatcom University of Mindanao Tagum Criminology Department Knight Warrior Club finished second over-all with three golds, four silvers and seven bronzes while Shorin Chi Karate Kan Comatcom Southern Philippines Polytechnic College of Sasa was third with one silver and two bronzes.

The Mabini Okinawan Shorin Ryu copped one silver to end up fourth in the event backed up by Toril Poblacion Barangay Captain Boboy Al-ag, Coney Gorobia, Merly Manalili, Elvie Olaivar, Lily Gonzales, Tatay Saro Ito, and Romeo Aquino.
Combatants' Eric Hornido topped the kumite male 15 to 17 years old age category while Luis Adrian Manalili got the gold in kumite male 13-14 category.
Zam Dave Aquino (kata male seven-10), Eduardo Hornido, Jr. (kata male 13-16), Vince Gabriel Estacio (kata male 7-12) also chipped in golds for the Toril-based karatedo squad.
Comatcom UM Tagum, coached by Carlito Panganoron, clinched golds courtesy of Matt Ian Bantonare, Janine Villar and Mark Lloyd Bantonare.
