Mintal United bags Mindanao 12U football title

THE Barangay Mintal United FC emerged 12-under champion of the just-concluded CMU-Mindanao Champions Tour 9th Edition at the Central Mindanao University in Musuan, Bukidnon.
Mintal, which represented the Davao Football Association (Davao FA), fielded teams blanked Gingoog KFC, 3-0, in their titular showdown.

Mintal's 12-under squad was composed of Julius Ponpon, Venice Jules Lumapac, Chris John Namocatcat, Cloyd Dela Cruz, Gerald Cordero, Ashley Lucero, Noel Capuyan, Rachy Sobrepeña, Joshua Belmonte, and Mark Lloyd Ando.
Ponpon was named most valuable player (MVP).
Gingoog settled for the runner-up honors while Musuan Elementary School placed third.
In 14-under, Barangay Mintal finished third having lost the semi-finals to CMU-A Kidz via shootout.
Davao FA general secretary Erwin Protacio, in an e-mail furnished to Sun.Star Davao Tuesday, said the Dabawenyos took a 2-0 lead but the host team equalized the match at 2-all. Both teams each converted two goals in the shootout but a Mintal kicker missed the third opportunity while CMU sealed the third goal to win a ticket to the finals.
Ace Joaquin, Raymund Casona, Robert Namocot, Joven Amihan, Jedric Calamba, John Mark Nalla, Caezar Ian Adan, Charles Yumi Cabansag, Charles Kiddo Cabansag, and John Mitch Lavador bannered Mintal's 14-under team that was coached by Danny Boy Fernandez and Mintal councilor Benedict Adan.
Representative Isidro T. Ungab, Mayor Inday Sara Z. Duterte, Mintal Brgy. Capt. Ramon M. Bargamento, city councilors Rachel Zozobrado, Victorio Advincula, Jr., Tomas Monteverde IV and Nemesio Ponpon backed up the two Mintal teams.
